Michael is a registered clinical psychologist based in Sydney.
Michael started his clinical career in 2012, working at St Vincent's Hospital's Alcohol and Drug and Mental Health Services as a counselor. The strengths-based, respectful, and non-judgemental approach in his early work still underpins Michael's approach to working with clients.
Michael has worked or trained at a range of public hospital services
including the Royal North Shore Hospital Pain Management and Research
Clinic (Pain Clinic) and the Prince of Wales Hospital's Mental Health
Inpatient Services. Michael has also worked within several psychology
practices in Sydney and has broad experience with clients from diverse backgrounds with a range of presenting issues.
With an interest in elite sports, having been an Australian representative athlete in the combat sport of Taekwondo, Michael commenced his career in elite sport at the New South Wales Institute of Sport in 2015. Here, he provided athlete well-being and development support. He worked as the Player Wellbeing and Development Manager at the NSW Waratahs from 2018-2021. Michael is currently a mental health referral network psychology provider for the AIS and NRL, a club-aligned psychologist (Parramatta Eels, Wests Tigers, South Sydney Rabbitohs) within the NRL, and a Performance Psychology Provider for the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and the NRL Elite Match Officials.
Michael holds a Masters of Clinical Psychology, and is a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. His research focuses on how mobile health (mHealth) supports can improve chronic pain management and reduce a reliance on medications.
Michael brings his knowledge of the most effective approaches psychological with his clients. He takes the time to understand each person's unique background and current circumstances, and draws on a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Schema and Narrative Therapies.
